Revolution Cut Crease Canvas ‘Halo White’ Review – P. Louise Dupe?

Like I disclosed in my latest Revolution Beauty haul, I will procede to post reviews of the products I purchased; this time, it’s Cut Crease Canvas’ turn.
Out of 4 shades, I decided to go for the white one (‘Halo White’) since I thought it would suit best not only my skintone, but also the general purpose of the product – a cut crease look.
I will post a look using this product, but know that all the looks I posted with my Forever Flawless – Optimum review were created using this base.

PACKAGING
As minimalistic as it looks, I am really into this packaging.
At first glance, the tube reminds me of one of a liquid lipstick or liquid concealer, and leans more towards the thicker side. It is very easy to hold and to carry around in your makeup bag.
ROSE GOLD AND BEIGE
The rose gold and beige theme works very well all-together, and makes the writings pop on every single color. The only complaint I may have is the fact that the mirror-like finish on the cap gets full of fingerprints quite easily, creating an overall unpleasant look. It’s not an overwhealmingly ‘cheap’ look, but it is a detail worth to mention.
The clear plastic bottle allows you to see the formula inside, which is something I deeply appreciate since I would like to know how much product there’s left. Also, the bottle is quite sturdy and has a nice weight to it, making you feel like you’re holding a higher quality product.
THE INSIDE OF THE PRODUCT
Opening up the product, we can finally get to see the brush inside. The brush is quite sturdy and packed, with a lot of bristles that pick up enough product not only to cover your lid completely, but also cutting your crease effortelessly.
Overall, I feel like it’s a very aesthetically nice product. I appreciate the light beige insert on the top as well as the rose gold cap and writings.
FORMULATION, USES AND P. LOUISE DUPE
Despite being marketed as Cut Crease Canvas, a proper cut crease product, this item is actually listed as a ‘full coverage eyeshadow base’.
Since this is the case, it makes a lot more sense for Revolution to come out with more than one shade and be overall pretty inclusive with this product.
Let’s break the name down to get to know the Cut Crease Canvas a little bit better, starting from its full coverage claim. Is this a full coverage formulation? Without a doubt.
FULL COVERAGE
When it comes to my face, the parts with the most discoloration are my eyelids. This product masks it pretty well, and it’s also fairly easy to blend – even if the formulation is a bit thicker than one might expect. The white one is perfect for fair skintones (me, hello), but the primer use calls for more variety in colors – which likely there is.
TACKY
Continuing on the priming situation, this one tends to lean more on the tacky side. I personally don’t mind it, but since my lids are very oily I prefer to set it with a setting powder. This allows the colors to glide on the lid more smoothly (at least for me) and prevents the looks from getting ruined; it’s also great if a little bit of stickiness is what you look for in an eyeshadow primer.
CUT CREASE
Now, it’s time to talk about cut creases. If you bought this product strictly for cut crease looks, I have a great news for you: it’s bomb!
The shape of the brush is perfect for a clean, tight look, and to make your colors pop. You don’t need to dip in a second time, since the formula is so pigmented, and it takes seconds to achieve the perfect look.
P. LOUISE
Finally, let’s talk P. Louise. The infamous eyeshadow primer is a must in many MUAs and beauty gurus’ bags, and recently expanded their color range. Also, it holds a lot more product (15 ml) for a little more money (10£). Both products are worth it in my opinion, and the only difference is that you also get a brush with Revolution.
THE LOOK
FINAL THOUGHTS
Here we are! At the end of the day, would I recommend the Cut Crease Canvas from Revolution? Most definitely!
I believe the formulation to be worth the price point, not only because it’s completely full coverage, but also because it can double up as a kick-ass eyeshadow base.
One detail I appreciate more than anything is the variety in colors available. Not only you get a pure white shade – which is amazing for every skintone if you buy this product for cut creases only – but also a variety of 3 shades (fair, medium and deep) to cover a good spectrum of complexions.
The formulation is a little bit thicker that what you would expect, but it’s a workable one in my opinion; it blends out really well and creates a perfect base for eyeshadows, wether you want to do a cut crease or a different look.
I think that this is a very good product for its price, and definitely bless your choice if you want to try it out!
