The Bite Size Eyeshadow Mini Palettes by e.l.f. Cosmetics got massive attention on TikTok a while back, and everybody seemed to be more than eager to get their hands on them.
The palettes come in a total of 8 different styles (10 including the new Mint ones), and only feature a total of four shades. They do not provide mirrors or brushes to go along with them.
I ended up buying a total of four of those palettes; Berry Bad, Pumpkin Pie, Hot Jalapeño and Açai You. Since I have decided to review each of those one by one, today I am going to talk about Pumpkin Pie. I have already reviewed Berry Bad – check the article out here!
This little product seems to be a fairly classic choice for makeup lovers, since it is a mainly neutral selection. All of the shades have quite strong warm undertones, which I have to admit I am a big fan of.
So, are you finally ready to see if the Pumpkin Pie Bite Size Eyeshadow Mini Palette is actually worth the hype?

PACKAGING
Before we dive deep into the aesthetics of the Pumpkin Pie palette, I just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
I have decided to review each palette separately, but this packaging part is going to be the same for every single one of them. I really hope you won’t mind too much, but since they are identical palettes it made sense to me.
OVERALL
This packaging is a fairly cheap and minimal one, that much is obvious.
The shadows come in a white and clear plastic packaging, with the name of the brand printed in grey on the front; on the back, we have a sticker with all of the general informations about the product. Unfortunately, I ended up removing all of the stickers as soon as I got the palettes – sorry about that!
The clear front window allows you to see the shades inside perfectly, but also gives away the fact that the Bite Size Eyeshadow Mini Palettes do not come with a mirror. This didn’t really bother me, since the size of the items is so small that a mirror would have been useless.
Another detail about this packaging is that these shades do not have names. I personally could care less, since there are only four eyeshadows here, but I do know it is something worth mentioning. I usually prefer when shadows carry names underneath, but since there are so few of them it would truly make no difference.
THE SIZE
Something that you definitely want to know is that these palettes stay true to their name. They really are Bite Size Mini Palettes!
Their size is even smaller than what I had anticipated, and literally fit perfectly into my hand. In my opinion, this makes them for the perfect travel or on-the-go item. You can shove them in one of your bag’s pockets and call it a day.
However, since they are so tiny, you could easily lose them. On the other side, they do close quite well, so don’t ever be afraid on any accidents!
Overall, I must say I have nothing bad to say about this packaging.
Sure, aesthetics do play a big part in our willingness to buy a makeup product, but at the end of the day it’s the inside that counts!
SHADES’ SELECTION + BREAKDOWN
I must say that this color combination is among my absolute favorites ever; these shades are my go-to whenever I don’t know what look I want to go for, and are definitely the ones that I feel most comfortable using.
The balance between mattes and shimmers is completely split, which often happens in the Bite Sized palettes by e.l.f.. I don’t necessarily think this is inherently good or bad, as long as the shades work well together – which seems to be the case here.
THE MATTE BLACK ISSUE
One thing that kind of rubbed me the wrong way is the absence of a matte black.
Since these transitions are quite light, somebody with a deeper complexion could use a black to have a more complete makeup look. On the other hand, for the price you’re paying I think you are getting quite an interesting color scheme!
SMALL DISCLAIMER!
Before we jump straight into the breakdown, I just wanted to clarify a small detail. As you can see from the picture, one of these shades looks wet. That is because it is the shadow I use to apply fake freckles whenever I do my makeup. I plan on doing a more in-depth post about it, as well as a TikTok video. Hope you’ll keep an eye out for it!
BREAKDOWN
#1. The first shade we find in the Pumpkin Pie color scheme is a pretty classic light brown matte shadow; it has strong warm undertones, and it could easily serve as a base for medium skintones. It is a nice transition shade for lighter complexions, and does look slightly lighter on the eye than it does in the pan. Although it isn’t a dramatic difference I think it still is something worth addressing.
#2. This orange shimmer shade looks slightly darker in the pan than it does once layed down on the eye. Moreover, it has beautiful golden reflexes that furtherly enrich its uniqueness. I have to admit I quite enjoyed using this shade, both because of its hue and its performance. Its pigmentation is outstanding, and the formula lays down seamlessly on the lid creating what almost looks like a foiled finish. I definitely think it will be a fan favorite!
#3. This is the darkest of the two mattes we find in the Pumpkin Pie palette, and does look slighter cooler-toned compared to the other shades. The cool tones become slightly more prominent once the shade is layed down on the eye. This could potentially clash in this generally warm-toned scheme, but I don’t find it to be an overwhealmingly annoying. The color stays true to what it looks like in the pan, which is always a good thing, and the pigmentation does not get lost once it is blended out. Truly a pleasant eyeshadow to work with!
#4. This final shadow might be slightly confusing to use, only because how different it looks in the pan and on the eye. In fact, while it looks more like a rusty orange/brown-ish shade in the pan, it turns into a pretty reflective dark gold hue when used on the eye. I personally love this detail, and I do think many people would come to appreciate it as well. Much like the shimmer we examined before, this shadow is quite pigmented and creates a foiled effect. It is truly a pleasure to work with!
DEMO #1
After priming my eyes, I packed the darkest matte of the palette on my outer corner; then, I blended it out and into the crease. I placed the orange shimmer (the second shade of the palette) on the inner portion of my lid, and blended it out into the matte shade. I decided to use the orange shimmer in my inner corner and inner part of my lower lash line, while I buffed the darkest matte on the rest of the lower part. Lastly, I popped a brown eye pencil in my waterline and used a pair of false eyelashes.
DEMO #2
On a primed lid, I packed the darkest matte of the palette on the inner and outer part of the lid, and blended it out with the lighter matte to create a halo shape that I mimicked on the lower lash line. Then, I set the center of the lid with the last shimmer of the palette, and I used it at the center of my lower lash line, too; also, I used it as my inner corner highlighter. I finished the look off with a pair of false eyelashes.
DEMO #3
On a primed lid, I sketched an elongated cut crease shape with the darkest matte of the palette. Eventually, I ended up connecting the cut crease with my lower lash line. I blended out the darker matte with the light one, and set the inner portion of the cut crease with the orange shimmer. After connecting the lower lash line with the dark matte, I popped a red eye pencil in my waterline. Lastly, I put on some false lashes and used the orange shimmer as my inner corner highlighter.
FINAL THOUGHTS
And here we are at last!
In conclusion, would I recommend the Pumpkin Pie Bite Size Eyeshadow Mini Palette by e.l.f. Cosmetics? Without question!
Compared to Berry Bad, I think this palette is a lot more consistent in terms of formulation and performance. I didn’t really detect many inconsistencies through the shades, which is something that I always appreciate about a palette.
THE COLOR SCHEME
This color scheme definitely works. I think the shimmers pair well with the mattes, and the mattes blend into each other seamlessly. This should be the whole point of a palette, and I do believe they reached the goal.
Personally, I love this selection; these shades represent my comfort zone when it comes to eyeshadows, and I do see myself carrying this product around pretty much anywhere I go.
THE DOWNSIDES
Now, are there things I did not fully enjoy about this product? Only a couple, to be honest: the lack of a matte black and more transitions for darker skintones.
I do believe this color scheme to be quite good in itself, but that’s because I have a pale skintone. In fact, I am not too sure how a person with a much darker complexion would be able to achieve an entire look only with these four shades.
You would have to pair this palette with another one, and while that isn’t too annoying it could turn out to be somewhat of a problem if you were planning on travelling. You’d have to carry another palette, which could possibly turn into an issue.
LASTLY
All in all, I do believe Pumpkin Pie deserves the popularity it has gained on social medias. It is an incredibly high quality product for a more than inviting price.
I think Pumpkin Pie has become one of my favorite palettes in my collection, and I do believe it is worth a shot. I mean, it’s only 4$!
