Lush is one of the most popular brands when it comes to natural beauty solutions, particularly loved because of their amazingly interesting skincare products.
Since this whole Quarantine thing, I have been stuck at my house and have been trying to replicate as many as their original recipes as possible.
It has been quite a journey for me, but the final results are almost always able to satisfy me. There have been quite a few trys and trial errors, but somehow I manage to end up with a good product most of the time. In case you were wondering, the failed copycats never make it to the blog.
This time, the crafting process took me back to square one quite a few times; three, to be exact.
Ultrabland is one of the most popular facial cleansers from Lush, and I needed some time to perfectly get the quantities of the ingredients right. Granted it’s not as you would buy it from the store, I still think it’s a pretty close and nice product!
So, are you ready to find out how to make your own DIY Lush Ultrabland Facial Cleanser Copycat?
Let’s get started!
YOU’LL NEED
- 1/2 cup of Almond Oil
- 1/4 cup of Rose Water
- 2 Tablespoons of Honey
- 2 Tablespoons of Beeswax
- A pot and a stove
- A container of choice
Before jumping into the crafting process, let’s quickly talk about these ingredients and their benefits for your skin.
ALMOND OIL
Almond Oil is, of course, a naturally hydrating agent of Ultrabland. Besides that, it can help soothe irritated and acne-prone skin. Moreover, it can help lighten the skintone and promote a more even-looking complexion.
ROSE WATER
Rose water is frankly one of the most underrated skincare products out there; it can be used on any skin type, even more sensitive ones. It’s a natural toner, meaning it will help re-establishing the skin’s natural pH balance and oil production. Also, it’s full of antioxidants that help heal and strengthen the tissues. It can help clean and reduce the appearance of pores as well!
HONEY
A natural antiseptic, Honey is a great addition to this facial cleanser if you aim at fighting acne and blemishes, as well as efficiently cleanse pores. Moreover, honey can help brighten and add glow to your complexion.
BEESWAX
Lastly, let’s spend a couple of words on Beeswax. This ingredient is amazing for chapped and irritated skin, since it has great anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties; it’s also quite good to seal in moisture and fight dry skin and patches.
Alright, let’s get crafting!
Firstly, you want to melt your beeswax completely. This step is going to require a pot and a stove, so be very careful!
I don’t really know if it helps the consistency of the final product, but as soon as the beeswax is completely melted I immediately add the honey. You want to mix the two as well as you possibly can, resulting in an almost paste-like formula.
Then, mix the liquid ingredients together: the almond oil and rose water. Once you are satisfied with your liquid base, it’s time to add the paste from before. Stirring is going to be annoying, but it will also ensure a cohesive and smooth final consistency.
Lastly, pour the formula into your desired container.

Looking at the ingredients, I’ve never managed to get water and oil to mix. 3v2n when I set honey into a balm with a butter, the honey separates out. I’d love to know how your managed to get them to mix. A video demo would be ideal. Of all the formulations I’ve wanted to make, it’s this one’s, which is based on Galen’s cold cream recipe. Water, honey, wax, oil. No matter how I try I can’t seem to get them to blend.
