Hey, pretty people!

I have already brought a whole of serum recipes on the blog, but this one is completely different from them all.

Crafting a serum formulation is a lot easier than what you may think, and the possibilities are basically endless. There are formulas to target any skin concern you could possibly have, and all ranges of price to choose from.

This Citrus Peel water serum, for example, is fairly easy to craft, and quite inexpensive as well.

It targets a whole lot of different concerns, from dull skin to acne and discoloration. It is perfect for more sensitive skintypes thanks to the gentle ingredients featured – like chamomile tea – and you will be able to see a difference fairly quickly.

So, are you ready to find out how to make your own DIY Citrus Peel Infused Water Serum?

Let’s get started!

YOU’LL NEED

  • 2 teaspoons of Aloe Vera Oil or Aloe Vera Gel
  • 1 teaspoon of Lemon and Orange Peel Infused Water (keep reading for direction on how to make it)
  • 1 teaspoon of Honey Chamomile Tea
  • A serum bottle
  • 1-2 Vitamin E Oil tab(s)

Before jumping straight into the crafting process, let’s quickly talk about these ingredients and a few of their benefits for your skin.

ALOE VERA GEL

Aloe Vera Gel is a recurrent ingredient in my DIY skincare formulas, and a generally popular one. It can help gently moisturize and exfoliate the complexion, all the while fighting acne and keeping breakouts at bay; also, it can help reduce the size of your pores. If you’d rather use Aloe Vera Oil, here are all the directions you’ll need to make it yourself! I personally decided to use the oil, because it was a lot easier to mix with the other ingredients.

LEMON AND ORANGE INFUSED WATER

Lemon and Orange Infused Water is yet another ingredient that will help your skin get brighter and healthier. Both peels are packed with Vitamin C, which can enhance your natural skintone and brighten it up; also, their antioxidant properties are perfect to fight acne and imperfections.

To craft this ingredient, all you need is a small pot full of water, the peel of one lemon and the peel of one orange. Toss the peels into the water and turn the heat on. Once the water reaches an almost boiling point, turn the heat off and let it cool down completely. Lastly, strain your liquid to remove the peels.

CHAMOMILE TEA

Chamomile Tea is a super gentle ingredient for your skin, and yet another one that will brighten up your skintone – as well as fight discoloration and hyperpigmentation. It is perfect to treat acne and irritation, and also a good natural choice to treat redness and inflammation.

To add an extra kick to it, I added a spoonful of honey. I made my tea, and allowed it to cool down for 20 minutes. Then, I added the honey. Adding it when the liquid has cooled down a bit won’t destroy its natural properties, and will still let you savor its taste.

VITAMIN E OIL

Lastly, let’s spend a few words on Vitamin E Oil. This ingredient is here to make sure you can safely store your citrus water serum outside of the fridge without it going bad. You could easily omit it altogether, but make sure to store the product into the fridge after every use. Even if you do end up adding it, make sure to keep a close eye on it either way!

Alright, let’s get crafting!

Firstly, you want to make your Citrus infused water and chamomile tea, and set them aside to cool down completely. Feel free to add the Vitamin E Oil tab(s) directly into the infused water, so you won’t have to worry about it later.

Once your liquids are cool, it’s time to add them to the Aloe Vera Oil/Gel and mix everything together as well as you can. This is especially necessary if you decided to use Aloe Vera Gel; you want the final consistency to be completely smooth and liquid, so take your time with this step.

Lastly, pour your formula into the empty serum bottle.

And your DIY Citrus Peel Infused Water Serum is all ready to go!
