Hey, pretty people!

I have posted quite a few DIY haircare recipes, but I have never stopped and pondered for a minute about the essential oils I put into them.

See, I always add a few drops of some oil into my product, and I don’t really feel like it’s a complete DIY without them, but just recently I started asking myself ‘what if people want to know which essential oil is the best for this or that?’.

I posted a similar article a while back, but that one is a bit more generic. In this one, I want to examine the top 10 best essential oils for your hair; which one is the best frizz fixer? Who will promote your hair growth the most?

Let’s find out!

PS: Know that the only creteria here is my personal preference of usage; just because a oil is ranked #10 doesn’t mean I don’t like it or it’s bad, it’s just one that I do not use as frequently as the others!

#10 – Thyme

Let’s kick off this top 10 essential oils guide with a bang! Truthfully, I didn’t really know very much about this essential oil up until recently. Thyme is extraordinary when it comes to promoting hair growth and increase blood flow to the scalp. Moreover, this herb is a powerful ally to fight dandruff and minor scalp-infections with.

#9 – Lemongrass

I didn’t really know what to expect when I firstly started experimenting with this oil, but I must say it was a pleasant journey! Lemongrass has quite the strong (yet pleasant, in my opinion) smell, and it’s one of the best dandruff-fighting oils out there. Moreover, it’s also effective in killing bacteria and promoting a healthy and strong scalp.

#8 – Rosemary

I have featured this essential oil in one of my hair thickening treatments . However, that’s not the only benefits it holds! This ingredient is great when it comes to promoting a healthy scalp and treating problems like dandruff and itchiness. Also, it stimulates hair growth!

#7 – Tea Tree

Not too long ago, I thought the only thing this oil did was fight acne; turns out, there’s so much more to it! Tea tree oil is another key ingredient to maintain your scalp healthy and your hair looking shiny, but a constant application may help you kill lice as well.

#6 – Lemon

If you happen to have a more oily hair type, you’ll love to give this essential oil a go. It provides a good amount of moisture, meaning it will adapt on dry scalps as well, and promotes hair growth. Also, it helps removing dirt and extra oil from the scalp; did you know it’s an amazing frizz-fixer as well?

#5 – Avocado

Dry hair types, this oil is here to save your day! It’s an excellent frizz-fixer, and will help you keep your hair nice and moisturized. One thing I didn’t really expect out of it is to help restore the health of damaged hair! Moreover, it helps quite a bit softening it and improving its texture.

#4 – Ylang Ylang

Another one that’s better suited for dry hair, this oil will help stimulate sebum production in no time. It’s quite the powerful hair growth agent, and can help prevent and fight lice. Also, it will help improving hair texture and damages!

#3 – Patchouli

This oil is the relief that dry and itchy scalps very much need! In my opinion, the best thing about this oil is that it will provide just the right amount of moisture without resulting greasy; this is especially great for oily scalps! Also, it helps fight general scalp infections like itchiness and dandruff flawlessly.

#2 – Chamomile

If you think that chamomile is only for blondes, let me tell you: it is not! This oil is one of the best when it comes to add some moisture and life to the scalp, making it an obvious choice for dry hair. It’s also great when it comes to fighting itchiness and dandruff, as well as promoting hair growth.

#1 – Lavender

I use this ingredient all the time in my DIYs, and for good reason! This oil is one of the most eclectic ones, and has a bunch of properties that target different areas all at once. Lavender oil works flawlessly on every hair type, proving moisture and balancing sebum secrection; it’s a wonderful deep cleanser, and will help you fight dandruff and itchiness (among other things). Moreover, it adds some much needed shine and glow to the hair!
