When I started getting serious about makeup, I quickly fell in love with regular lipsticks and their liquid form. I was scared at first, but once I got a hold to it became an essential part of my routine.
Lipsticks are great, but can also become challenging to handle: they either enhance your features or make your lips wrinkly and dry – there’s no in-between. At the beginning I thought a simple lip balm could fix that, but I learned the hard way it’s not that automatic… or fast.
But cheer up, lip scrub is at the rescue!
It takes you less than two minutes to do and leaves you with a long-lasting, flawless lipstick/lip gloss application. That’s great, right? You know what’s even better?
You can make your own lip scrub from ingredients around your kitchen – and make it as effective as the one you would buy from a store!
Here’s what you’re going to need (I like to make bigger quantities, so it’ll last longer):
- 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil (you can easily replace it with olive oil)
- 2 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon of Honey
- 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon
I prefer to melt the coconut oil before stirring it with the other ingredients to make it easier to work with.
Before adding it however, I firstly pour the sugar into a bowl and then add everything else. I like to use honey for its healing and moisturizing properties, and cinnamon because it’s a great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
I just mix everything together, pour it into a container and use it! It is very quick to make and beyond easy to use, and you can make it yourself!
