Hey, pretty people!

Like I promised in my BeautyBay Haul, here I am with the review of the 2.5% Glycolic Acid Toner by Revolution Skincare.

I am a big fan of the brand, but I have to admit it was the first time trying this formula out for me; there is another similar option available, which is the 5% one.

Since I am very much a newbie at this, I decided to go with the more gentle version. You may want to keep this in mind as well, if you’re in the same position or have more sensitive skin.

So, do you want to know what’s the deal with this product? Would I recommend it?

Let’s get started!

THE BOTTLE

The bottle is rather big, but it’s not huge.

It will fit perfectly in your hand, even though it’s a little bit bigger, and it would be overall easy to pack and carry around if you plan to travel with it.

Also, even if the cap was to twist around and open up, you would need to squeeze the bottle for the formula to come out; it may not be much, but it’s still a safer element!

WHITE AND GOLD

I love the white and gold theme that’s going on in this aesthetic! The golden cap matches perfectly with the golden writings on the white sticker. Also, the other black writings pop perfectly, making everything easier to read. It’s good to have this warm gold theme, since the formula it’s actually a warm orange/yellow-ish color.

WEIGHT

Since the bottle carries quite a bit of formula, the product is uderstandably a bit heavy. Of course, you most likely won’t carry it around in your purse/backpack all day long, but it’s worth mentioning still.

Moreover, the heavy feeling makes you think of a more valuable product!

I have tried other Revolution Skincare items previously, but I have to say this one has the best packaging – or the one I prefer, at least. The bottle looks elegant and price-y, even though it isn’t, and the writings don’t rub off after multiple uses. That’s a win for me!

FORMULA

There are a thing or two you may want to get acquainted with before jumping straight into the proper usage of the Glycolic Acid Tonic, and here they are.

Fragrance

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but this formula does smell of something.

Sure, there are a couple of ingredients listed in bold letters right in my face (Ginseng and Aloe Vera), but if I had to be honest I would say I can’t detect either of these flavors in this Tonic.

It doesn’t exactly smell bad, but it feels like there is a blend between the true chemical smell of the ingredients and something fresh and natural that you can’t quite separate. Nevertheless, it goes away literally a couple of seconds after application.

Strength

If you aren’t familiar with the Glycolic Acid formula but still would like to give it a go, you’d be better off picking a slightly diluted formula like this one.

Like I mentioned before, Revolution Skincare offers a stronger product with a concentration of 5%, but trust me and go for this weaker one if it’s your first time. Even if you don’t have sensitive skin, you don’t really know how your complexion may react to a completely new and chemical formula.

It’s definitely better to be safe than sorry, when it comes to skincare!

Sun protection

Whichever formulation you decide to pick, you always need to read the directions given by the brand – either on the actual bottle on their website. It’s super annoying, but guess what? It’s also the best solution to protect your skin from eventual damages by external factors.

Glycolic Acid is quite a strong ingredient, and can’t be applied without sun protection on top of it. The sun could potentially damage your skin pretty badly if you bluntly go out with this formula on and no sun protection, and the consequences could be painful and permanent – be careful!

Tint

Lastly, I just wanted to quickly point out an aspect about this formula that is not as important as the others, but still deserves to mentioned -its color.

If you’re unsure wether it’s a colored bottle or formula, let me enlighten you: the formula is a warm gold/orange color, while the bottle is actually clear. There really isn’t anything too special about this fact, I just wanted to point it out to let you know you’re not wiping away any makeup traces off your face: it’s just the Tonic.

PERFORMANCE

"Revolution

What did I not enjoy about this product? Two things, really, and one is more of a minor detail: the applicator, and the fact that the formula can be a bit too harsh right after a proper scrub.

Now, what’s up with this applicator? There really isn’t anything wrong with it, but I would have preferred a more practical one.

I don’t think it’s particularly hard to work with this one, but it’s still a bit impractical. It’s a good choice if you plan to travel around with it, though!

AFTER A SCRUB

Lastly, I just wanted to share a little experience I had while applying this Glycolic Acid Tonic after a proper scrub.

Since my skin was going through a bit of a rough period, I decided to use a stronger face scrub than what I would usually go for – nothing major or too special, really; right after washing the product away, I went in with this formula.

Nothing bad happened, I just felt a massive amount of tingles all over my face; no redness, no rashes, just tingles. Like I said before, it wasn’t anything massive, but I thought mentioning it would still be worth it to some.

I have had a more than pleasant experience with the 2.5% Glycolic Acid Tonic. I am already considering purchasing its stronger version once I am done with it!
