Hey, pretty people!

Soph is one of my absolute favorites beauty content creators out there, and she has been for a while. You can take a look at her YouTube channel right here, by the way.

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + DemoShe has already collaborated with Makeup Revolution twice before, and this is her third collection with them. Needless to say, I was beyond excited to see what they had in store this time!

The collection included many interesting products, but I ended up choosing only the Super Spice eyeshadow palette.

The color selection seemed quite interesting, and completely unique compared to the previous palettes Soph and Makeup Revolution put out in the past. Also, I was curious to find out if the brand did something new to their formulas.

So, are you ready to find out what I think about the Super Spice eyeshadow palette?

Let’s go!

PACKAGING

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + DemoThe aesthetics of the previous Soph x Revolution collabs are still very much present, which I find quite pleasing to see.

The palette comes in a light beige-pink cardboard with rose gold writings on. I especially enjoy this pairing as it makes the writings pop and manages to look elegant and nice. On the other hand, it doesn’t really capture the colorful nature of the Super Spice palette.

The actual palette perfectly resembles the cardboard packaging, although I have noticed it tends to get dirty incredibly fast and easily. Much like the cardboard, you can find all of the general informations on the back.

THE INSIDE OF THE PALETTE

Opening up the item, we finally get to see the shades and the mirror.Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + Demo

I have to say I deeply appreciate seeing the names of the shades printed directly underneath. If you’re having trouble remembering which ones are pressed pigments, simply take a look at the back of the palette.

The mirror is a fairly simple one, but allows you to do your eye makeup and complete your entire routine without much fuss.

I have to say I like this packaging, although I am aware that there isn’t anything too special about it.

SHADES’ SELECTION + BREAKDOWN

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + DemoOne thing that is clear to everybody about the Super Spice palette is how versatile it can get.

This color scheme is almost split in two, with a much more colorful side and a perfectly neutral one. This allows you to gradually step out of your comfort zone, as well as get ‘two palettes in one’. The combinations are basically endless, and you can use this product in any season, for any occasion.

SHIMMER + MATTE BALANCE

There are very few shimmers here, and I have to say I am not bothered by this one bit. The mattes easily take centre stage, and that’s how it is supposed to be in such a colorful item.

You’ll most likely have multiple shimmers in your collection already, while it is slightly harder to have a palette with such bright and bold pops of color in matte format. However, it is fair to say that this is more of a personal preference than anything.

The only thing that kind of threw me off was how toned-down ‘Extra Spice‘ looks in real life. In fact, I expected it to be quite brighter.

I like the fact that all of the pressed pigments are marked with a small element, and it is clear to see on the back of the palette. Staining-wise, I only had problems with ‘Lover‘.

ROW #1

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + Demo

To Be Fair. I have to say I expected a bit more out of this matte white shade. I don’t have a satisfying matte white in my collection in general, and I really hoped this one was going to be it. The pigmentation didn’t really blow me away, and I would classify it as decent, but disappointing overall. On the other hand, it does not create build-up or fallout.

Mirrorball. I absolutely adore this metallic gold shade, from its light color to its creamy formulation. I love how you can see the brush strokes in the pan after picking it up, due to its creamy base; also, it is a pretty pigmented classic shadow. Truly a nice shade to use, and a must in the ‘neutrals’ and ‘classic’ departments.

Cookie Dough. This matte soft brown shadow was already a favorite of mine in the ‘Extra Spice‘ palette, and I am beyond glad to find it here. It could serve as a base shade for medium skintones, and it is the perfect transition color for lighter complexions. I use it incredibly often, and it really is one of the best shades of the Super Spice palette in my opinion.

Frère. I had different expectations for this iridiscent teal shimmer. In fact, I thought it was going to be a much lighter and brighter shade. Despite being quite creamy, this shadow isn’t the most pigmented of the Super Spice palette. Also, it tends to look slightly darker on the eyes than it does in the pan. Not gonna lie, it did make me a bit disappointed!

Blue Lagoon. This matte cerulean blue is truly a nice shade for Spring and Summer, and for anyone who loves colorful eyeshadows in general. It has a great pigmentation to it, and does not create build-up in the pan or fallout on the face. Moreover, it blends out quickly and nicely. Easily one of my favorites out of the palette!

Lockdown. This matte lilac reminds me of the Pastels palette by Beauty Bay, and I have to say I really like it! You should use a white base underneath to have it show up properly (just like any pastel shade ever), but is pretty pigmented and performs quite well.

ROW #2

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + Demo

Not Gonna Lie. Much like ‘Mirrorball‘, I think this metallic bronze shimmer is a classic shadow for the more neutral aspect of this product. It does create a bit of fallout on the face, but I think its pigmentation and reflective nature fully make up for it. Moreover, it offers an almost wet-like feeling. Truly a nice one!

Sunshine. Despite looking like a proper canary yellow, this matte shadow definitely turns a little darker once layed down on the eyes. If you’re using it to blend out another shade, it will pick up quite a bit of that color. It really wants to be paired with the other shades of the palette, and works exceptionally well with ‘Cocktail‘ and ‘Extra Spice‘. I think it is a nicely pigmented and blendable shade, truly a pleasure to work with.

Cocktail. This vibant orange really took me by surprise, I have to say that; I didn’t really expect to enjoy it as much as I do, but I am glad I finally got to see its potential. the pigment is quite nice, which is always great to have in a shadow, and blends out effortelessly. Plus, I didn’t really see any build-up in the pan or fallout on the face. I would go as far as to say it is one of the best shades of the Super Spice palette!

Dreamy. I think this dual tone lilac and blue reminds me of a similar shade of The Magic palette by Juvia’s Place, although not as nice. It is not a bad shade either, just not as great as the pricier one. It is an incredibly soft and smooth shadow, and does transfer well onto the eye. I love how it almost looks like a metallic or wet shade. Truly a nice eyeshadow to use!

Maman. A matte forest green is a must in such a colorful palette, and I am glad that Soph decided to add it to this color scheme. I think it is one of the most pigmented mattes of the Super Spice palette, and blends out fairly well. Plus, it pairs nicely with ‘Sunshine‘.

Festive. I don’t know why the Revolution website labeled this deep green shade as a matte, when in actuality it is a nice-looking shimmer. That being said, I think this shadow perfectly embodies the fall part of this palette. It definitely is more dramatic than the other colorful mattes, but I think it is quite good when it comes to the vampy vibe of the product.

ROW #3

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + Demo

Extra Spice. The third row kicks off with a shade I genuinely thought was a bright matte red. However, ‘Extra Spice‘ is actually marketed as a burnt Sienna. Personally, I think it is more of a bright dark orange. It’s not an awful color, although I have to say I would have enjoyed a bright red quite a bit. On the other hand, this formulation is quite impressive; perfectly pigmented and easy to blend. Plus, it doesn’t create build-up in the pan or fallout on the face; it doesn’t stain the eye, either!

Lover. Fuchsia pinks like this one always interest me, and I am glad Soph decided to add it to this color scheme! This shade tends to look slightly darker when applied on the eye, which isn’t a bad thing entirely. It is very pigmented, but does create a slight amount of fallout on the face. This doesn’t really bother me too much, but it’s something worth noting. It also stains your lid quite a bit, so make sure to keep that in mind as well!

Cereal. I am a big fan of this matte chocolate brown! Everything about it is comforting to me, and I can’t wait to use it throughout Fall and Winter. It is a very nicely pigmented shadow, although it can create a slight amount of build-up in the pan; on the other hand, it blends out effortelessly. It does lose a little bit of strength once blended out, though.

Papa. I would classify this matte mulberry purple as the most disappointing shade of the palette – at least for me. In fact, I found it to be quite patchy, although its pigmentation was good overall. It does blend out nicely, but does end up staining your eyelids – although not as much as ‘Lover‘ does. I find myself avoiding this shadow almost every time I pick up the Super Spice palette, which is a real shame considering how pretty this color is!

Brownies. This umber brown wasn’t exactly my favorite shadow of the ‘Extra Spice‘ palette; I know Soph said it is basically the same, but something about it just feels different? I suspect it is the much more pigmented and blendable formula. Nevertheless, I have been having a great time using this shadow, and I think it looks especially great with ‘Cereal‘.

Night Owl. I believe that a true matte black like this one should always be present in an eyeshadow palette, and I do appreciate seeing it here. The pigmentation is really nice undoubtedly, and blends out really well – although it does lose a bit of strength once blended out.

DEMO #1

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + Demo
You can watch this tutorial on my TikTok!

After priming my eyes, I created an elongated cut crease shape with ‘Blue Lagoon‘ and blended it out with ‘Sunshine‘; I set the part below with a blue eyeliner and ‘Lockdown‘. I used ‘Frère‘ on my lid, and created a sort of cat eye eyeliner with ‘Blue Lagoon‘ and ‘Sunshine‘. Lastly, I created a line of separation between ‘Frère‘ and the matte shades with a white eyeliner. To finish the look off, I swiped ‘Maman‘ on my lower lash line, and used a blue pencil in my waterline. Lastly, I popped a white highlighter in my inner corner and added a pair of eyelashes.

DEMO #2

You watch this tutorial on my TikTok!

On a primed lid, I packed ‘Extra Spice‘ on my outer corner, and blended that out into my crease. Then, I reinforced the blending with ‘Sunshine‘. After cutting the crease, I set it with ‘Lockdown‘ on the inner part and ‘Dreamy‘ in the center, blending the shimmer into ‘Extra Spice‘. Lastly, I swiped ‘Cocktail‘ on my lower lash line, and popped a red pencil in my waterline. I used a yellow highlighter in my inner corner and added a pair of false lashes.

DEMO #3

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + Demo

On a primed lid, I sketched out this shape with a white base. Then, I set it with ‘Lockdown‘ on the inner part, followed by ‘Papa‘, ‘Blue Lagoon‘, ‘Maman‘ and ‘Sunshine‘ (from left to right). To finish everything off, I used a white eyeliner and a pink sparkly shimmer in my inner corner.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This has been quite a ride!

In conclusion, would I recommend the Super Spice palette by Revolution x Soph? Without question!

I have used and abused this eyeshadow palette so much, and I have enjoyed doing so tremendously. In fact, I have included more looks than I usually do, and many links to my TikTok videos that prove my love for the product.

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + DemoTHE STRENGTHS

What are the biggest strengths of the Super Spice palette? Quite a few I would say, starting from its versatility.

Doing a creative and colorful look with this color scheme is a must, but I think it is fair to say that you have a lot of room to move around – especially with how many neutrals you have here. I think that the matte black is not only your wild card, but your safe bet at the same time. Allow me to elaborate a little.

A matte black is a must for me, especially in palettes that do not offer many transitions for darker skintones. Moreover, it can deepen and vamp up any type of look without much effort. It is the perfect shade to use throughout fall!

One thing I am a big fan of is the way ‘Sunshine’ and ‘Blue Lagoon’ work together. They blend into a beautiful green shadow together, and they create such an interesting and suggestive look!

Makeup Revolution x Soph Super Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review + DemoTHE DOWNSIDES

Lastly, what did I not fully enjoy about the Super Spice palette?

Firstly, I would say that the shade ‘Frère’ was quite disappointing on its own. I didn’t find it mindblowing in terms of pigmentation and formula, and the finish didn’t really appeal to me either.

Another element I did not appreciate too much about this palette was ‘Brownies‘ and, subsequently, a few of the shades I would have loved to see included in this color scheme.

I am going to go ahead and say that this is a personal preference, and it’s by no means a ‘downfall’ or a ‘criticism’. That being said, I would have swapped ‘Brownies‘ for a deep matte burgundy, and picked a richer warm brown over ‘Cereal‘.

LASTLY

Aside from these minor details, I have to say that I have had an amazing time using this palette, and I do believe it is yet another great collab between Makeup Revolution and Soph!
