Hey, pretty people!

I love when products can serve a double purpose, especially if we’re talking about skincare. I do enjoy a good skincare shopping spree, but I am also a big fan of DIY solutions – which is something you surely have gathered if you have been on my blog before.

It’s not always easy to find a solution for everything and everyone, that’s especially why I love experimenting around with different ingredients and formulas.

Among all of the products I brought on the blog, face masks have always been some of my favorites. Needless to say, this particular exfoliating face mask is one of those!

Before I leave you to the actual recipe, just know you can click here if you would like to indulge in some more DIY Skincare recipes!

DIY face masks are quite easy to craft most of the time, and this one is a perfect example of that.

It’s insanely simple to create, and the overall process will take you less than 10 minutes. You know what, make it 5!

This particular DIY gentle exfoliating face mask recipe features a total of 4 kitchen products: oatmeal, honey, cinnamon and Lavender oil. Ready to find out why this exfoliating mask is so amazing?

Let’s get started!

YOU’LL NEED

  • 1 cup of Oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup of Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons of Cinnamon
  • 15-20 drops of Lavender Essential Oil

Per usual, let’s get to know these ingredients a little bit better before crafting the product up.

OATMEAL

Oatmeal is one of the most popular kitchen ingredients for both skincare and actual cooking, but what makes it so great? For starters, it’s a natural skin cleanser that works wonders for sensitive skin as well. It doesn’t strip skin off its natural oils, and its anti-oxidant properties help reduce itching and inflammation. Moreover, it’s a natural moisturizer and helps even out skin texture.

HONEY

Much like oatmeal, Honey is also a pretty good moisturizer – but that’s not it. This liquid gold is a great ally when it comes to acne fighting and prevention, and cleanse your pores like no other. It also creates a nice glow!

CINNAMON

Cinnamon is kind of like the wild child here, but I promise it has many benefits as well. In fact, this spice can help you fight acne and blemishes, all the while moisturizing your skin and evening out your complexion.

LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL

Lastly, lavender essential oil. Another acne fighting and preventing ingredient, this oil also helps detoxifying and moisturizing the skin.

Alright, let’s get crafting!

There really isn’t much to say about this crafting process, to be honest.

Personally, I prefer to combine the dry ingredients first and then add all the liquids.

This means combining oatmeal and cinnamon first, pouring the honey later and leaving the essential oil for last. I feel like doing this ensure a smoother and more cohesive consistency. However, it could also be the satisfaction of mixing the ingredients this way!

Remember that the key here is mixing. You want the ingredients to really get to know each other, so make sure to be patient and just keep going.

Once you reach that smooth consistency, that’s when you know your DIY Gentle Exfoliating Face Mask is all ready to go!

I wouldn’t advise you to use this product more than twice a week. The formula is quite gentle and moisturizing, and this frequency should suffice. However, feel free to customize the usage to your likings!
