Revolution Pro Foundation Drops Review | Foundation Review, Drugstore Foundation

Hey, pretty people!

If you didn’t know, I am a big fan of foundation. Full, medium or sheer, it really doesn’t matter to me; I love them all! My new favorite product is Revolution Pro’s “Foundation Drops“.

There has been quite a few new and interesting launches recently, but I find myself gravitating towards this one every day.

Want to know something more about it?

Let’s jump right in!

PACKAGING

The product is quite small and travel-friendly; it reminds me a lot of Revolution’s liquid highlighters, with less aesthetics to it.

The glass bottle feels quite luxurious, and has a nice weight to it despite carrying less formula than your regular foundation (we’ll touch on this later on).

I personally love the matte effect of the bottle; the brand’s and product’s name printed on it are still present today, despite me using this product every day. There’s also a sticker with all the general infos and ingredients.

What makes this foundation quite unique is the dropper applicator; the cap is black and gets dirty fairly easily, but the actual applicator picks up enough product for you to cover your entire face with it.

I am overall quite into this packaging; it’s simple yet sleek, and minimizes the mess that foundation application could cause.

A CLOSER LOOK: FORMULA & APPLICATOR

What caught many people’s attention was the applicator of the foundation even more than the actual formulation.

I have to admit, it was not easy to adapt to the dropper bottle; when it comes to face serums they may be the perfect choice, but it took me a while to master its art.

It pick up a lot of product, and that can cause your base to look cakey and stain your clothes, since the formula is quite liquid.

Speaking of the formulation, I kind of find this one similar to Fenty Beauty’s “Pro Filt’r” one. The two offer two completely different finishes, but they are both quite water-y. Moreover, this foundation offers a very natural, skin-like finish, and creates a silky, breathable base just like it’s supposed to; or, rather, like it’s marketed for.

What’s even better is how fast and easily the product blends on your skin; it literally takes seconds to be perfect.

I decided to offer you guys a hand swatch since it’s a very textured part of the body; despite not being a full-coverage foundation, I find the coverage provided to be pretty efficient!

A BUNCH OF SWATCHES AND DIFFERENT APPLICATION MODES

1 drop of formula – finger swatched
1 drop of formula blended out with a damped sponge (RealTechnique ‘Face&Body’)
Lastly, 1 drop of formula blended out with a foundation brush (Zoeva 104 Buffer Brush)

FINAL THOUGHTS

Like always, here we are! Do I recommend Revolution Pro’s Foundation Drops? I absolutely do!

I am going to be really honest and say that at the very beginning I thought I wasted my money on this product. It may sound a little dramatic, but it’s true; I couldn’t understand how much product to use, and I also thought that the applicator was just there to make me waste precious mls of product.

Once I seemed to get a hold of it however, I quickly fell in love with it. My preferred technique is to squeeze very little product directly on my face and then blend it out with a damped beauty sponge.

Also, another aspect that kind of bugged me was the quantity you get in the bottle. Your avarage foundation is about 1 fl. Oz. (30 ml), while this is a little over half that amount.

Personally, I love the natural finish it provides. I can build up the coverage where I need it or just add a bit color to my face, but without any blending/cakey-ness problems.

A very important aspect you certainly want to take in consideration is that this base wasn’t created to suit any particular skin type.

I have combo to oily skin, therefore I know I will need prepping and setting methods to make it stay in place all day without it melting or creasing after a couple of hours. You may need a little less prepping if your skin leans more towards the drier side, but you will still need to set it in place.
