Hey, pretty people!

I have previously posted two guides on how to glow up; the first one being How to Glow Up Overnight and the second being How to Glow Up Over the Weekend.

Both guides feature all of my top tips and tricks and quick-fixes. However, I felt like I could do something more.

When you think of a ‘glow-up’ it’s more of an exterior beauty thing, and I wanted to elevate the general vibe a little bit.

Of course, every single one of us has a personal background that features a path I can’t possibly know. When it comes to personal growth, I will just be giving off general tips without getting too specific. Hope they will help either way!

So, are you ready to find out how to glow up in a month, in the comfort of your home?

Let’s get started!

A Healthy Diet

I touched on this subject a little more in my How To Glow Up Over The Weekend, but let’s refresh a little bit.

It’s super hard to follow a truly healthy diet every single day of our lives, especially for those who work and possibly have kids. However, there are a couple of ways to make that happen.

My favorite tip was suggested by my doctor, who told me to replace sugar with a liquid, zero-calorie sweetener. This is going to make a huge difference, and you won’t even notice the difference!

The general rule of a healthy diet is to fill your kitchen with fruits and vegetables, and also go for lean proteins like white meat and fish.

Moreover, it could be a good idea to stock your fridge with zero-calorie snacks like greek yogurt, apples and bananas.

Drink Your Water

Keeping yourself hydrated will make a huge impact on your body, and also is a good practice to maintain yourself healthy.

The recommended amount of water intake is around 64 oz. per day. You could invest in a super cute water bottle as well, to keep yourself motivated!

Exercise Everyday

Now, I am by no means saying you should get ready to get a gym membership and run 30 miles a day. If that’s what you feel like doing, however, go right ahead!

Exercising doesn’t necessarily mean spending a couple of hours at the gym everyday. It can mean a nice, relaxing walk around the neighborhood, or complete a yoga session before starting your day. In fact, there are many exercises you can complete without leaving your room at all, too!

Build an Efficient Skincare Routine

Before you start thinking about all of the products you’ll need to save up for, allow me to give you a heads up. You really don’t need too many items to have the perfect skincare routine! In fact, a simple and cheap one would consist of only 3 products: a tonic solution, a serum and a moisturizer.

You can take a look at this post to find out how to build the perfect routine for your skin. I am going to give you a few store-bought options!

My first recommendation when it comes to the tonic solution would be rose water. You can make it yourself at home following these directions. My favorite store-bough tonic at the moment is the 2.5% Glycolic Acid Tonic by Revolution Skincare (review here).

If you’re looking for a store-bought serum, I recommend tthe 3 Second Starter Collagen serum by Holika Holika (review here).

Lastly, let’s talk moisturizers. I have a few on hand at the moment, my favorite being the Gold Elixir (rosehip seed oil) by Revolution Skincare (review here). If you would like something more natural, I recommend checking carrier oils out. Here’s a quick guide to get you started!

Your Skincare Extras

Now that you’ve built a somewhat efficient skincare regime, it’s time to talk about those products that will add that much needed ‘oomph’ to it. Like scrubs and face masks.

Your skin will naturally have build-up, dirt and dead skin cells on it at the end of the day, and our goal is to remove them. To do so, we need a good facial exfoliator.

Personally, I exfoliate my skin every other day. This rythm is perfect to eliminate texture quickly, and maintain a healthy complexion keeping acne and breakouts at bay. However, if this turns out to be too much for you, reduce the application to 2-3 times per week.

Face masks are the perfect product to address issues like pimples or a dull complexion. There are literally thousands of them on the market, and there also is one to satisfy everyone. My personal store-bought favorite is Pink Clay by Revolution Skincare (review here).

I like to apply them 3 times per week, but make sure to check the direction of the mask you pick!

The most important practices when it comes to skincare are two: always take your makeup off, and always moisturize. Make sure to remember these tips!

Brush Teeth With Baking Soda

I am pretty sure everybody knows they should brush their teeth at least 2 times a day. It’s pointless to remind you, I know. This tip, however, will help your teeth get gradually whiter over time.

Brushing your teeth with baking soda once a week is enough to help you effectively cleanse your mouth, and promote whiter and healthier teeth. All you have to do is mix a tiny bit of baking soda with a little bit of toothpaste and brush for a couple of minutes.

Lastly, make sure to rinse well and use mouthwash!

An Overall Good Hygiene

I have no doubt all of you take good care of yourself, therefore please don’t take offense with this title. Besides the obvious shower, this ‘cathegory’ includes shaving, exfoliating and, of course, moisturizing.

You can exfoliate how many times you want (I usually do a body scrub once every other day or every two days), and shaving truly depends on how fast the growth is. On the other hand, moisturizing is an everyday practice.

If you want to keep your skin plump, tight and healthy, invest in a good body butter or body oil!

Get a Haircut

This is an optional step, but it’s also the most effective way to get rid of split ends and damaged hair. Moreover, you don’t really need to completely change your hair; a simple trim will do just fine.

On the other hand, if you would like to experiment, why don’t you go all the way and dye your hair? It’s a simple but fun way to spice things up a bit!

Hair Mask Once/Twice a Week

If you don’t feel like your shampoo and conditioner routine is doing enough for your hair, why don’t you give a good, old-fashioned hair mask a go?

There are so many around, and you will quickly find one that suits all of your needs. If you don’t feel up for the challenge you could only use aloe vera gel and leave it on for 30 minutes.

It will help your hair glow up instantly!

Manicure Every Weekend

Once again, don’t feel pressured into going to the nail salon every weekend to get your nails done. You can have the perfect DIY manicure at home all the same!

All you need to do is soak your nails in warm water for 5 minutes, cut and file them, push your cuticles back and also apply a clear base coat. Boom, all done!

LIFESTYLE

Have Homeworks and Papers Always In Check

It’s a lot more satisfying going to bed knowing you have completed all of your duties.

Keeping your homework (and duties in general) on check is a great way to get your life together and feeling accomplished. You really don’t want to go to school or show up at your work place empty-handed, would you?

You can easily use an app to keep everything under control, and set alarms to help you remember deadlines. Investing in a planner could be a good idea as well!

Save as Much Money as Possible

What if you need cash for an emergency, but find out you spent it on something you didn’t really need? That’s one of the most frustrating feelings in the world.

Immediate pleasure is awesome, we all know that, but we should learn how to value our money more. Do we really need that chocolate bar, though? Even the smallest quantity can make a big difference, at the end of the day!

Also, you could even try a side-hustle to earn some more money!

Plan Outfits Ahead

It doesn’t matter if you’re going to a family dinner, to work or class. Planning outfits ahead is the perfect way to stay organized! Also, it will save you a whole lot of time in the morning, when all you want to do is go back to bed.

Planning the evening before is great, but try to keep a few ‘staple options’ for various occasions, like a date night, important meeting etc. Also, if you’re not doing anything this weekend, might as well raid your closet and pair some items together!

Build a Hype Playlist to Get Ready To

Every single one of us has a super personal music taste, which is why I am not going to give you any suggestions when it comes to which songs to include. However, a motivational playlist is the best way to get your morning started!

You want to start your day with positive vibes, and also gather as much positive energy as possible. Include how many songs you like, and shuffle them whilst your brushing your teeth or taking a shower. It will boost your mood in no time!

Movie Night Once a Week

Wether you prefer to indulge in a romcom alone or with a bunch of friends, make sure to take time off of your schedule to wind down.

If movies or shows aren’t really your thing, pick something else you really love to do – like painting or baking. Involving your friends is a great way to add some fun to your night! However, doing it alone could be a relaxing treat as well.

You could also pick a day you don’t really like, and make it ‘Movie-Night-X’. It could help make the situation a little better, at least!

Try New Things and Find New Hobbies

A glow up is all about yourself and your personal growth as a person, which is why you should always try and do things you love or remotely enjoy. Granted we can’t always do so, we can at least try!

Stepping out of your comfort zone is super scary, but it’s an essential step when it comes to growth. Also, this doesn’t mean you should go and jump out of a plane for the sake of abandoning your comfort zone!

If you would like to be more artistic, a quick YouTube search will unveil hundreds and hundreds of tutorial for you. Want to go to a proper, IRL course? Go for it! The time is now!

Keep Negativity Out

I know, I know: how do you even do that? It’s quite hard, actually.

I feel like the key here is understanding yourself and your needs. One thing nobody needs in their life is toxicity, which comes in the form of people and situations. You should try and cut it out of your life for good, because you don’t need nor deserve that.

Now, nobody wants to be cut off rudely. Yhere’s also no need for that. In fact, people just need to realize you don’t have any more time to waste, and all that time is going towards people you actually love and who love and support you back. There is no need to be ashamed of loving yourself to the point of removing things that harm you.

Give Time To Those Who Actually Deserve It

Your time is othe most precious thing you could be giving away; you don’t want people to waste it. In fact, they need to earn the right to it, and you need to give it to those who love and respect you.

If there is something that life teaches us is that the time we have here is very limited. Make impactful and loving memories with your family and also your real friends, spend time with them and grow together as human beings. Hit up those people you haven’t seen in a while, and see how they are doing.

You will never regret quality time with people who deserve it!

Self-Help and Self-Development Content

Growing is a continous experience that basically never ends, not until you pass away. There are many things we could improve, and self-help and development content are one of many ways to do that.

A quick Google or YouTube search are probably going to be eye-opening. Also, a trip to your local library or book store could represent the icing on the cake.

There is no shame in wanting to better ourselves as human beings, and a constant research for improvement shows great maturity and intelligence. That’s a true glow up, right there!

That One Shakespeare Quote To Live By (cheesy moment alert)

Lastly, I wanted to finish off this glow up checklist with one of my all-time favorite quotes by William Shakespeare.

Love all,

Trust a few,

Do wrong to none.

I feel like this quote is fairly up to personal interpretation, so I wanted to give my side before you go on your merry way.

Like I said before, your time is one of the most beautiful gifts to people. Right above that, it is your love. Loving people and investing your time in them is one of the best things you could do to improve the quality of your life, but you need to make sure those people are deserving.

On the other hand, you know who is more than deserving of your love? Yourself.

You are the most important person in your life, and you need to acknowledge that; you need to look yourself in the mirror and say ‘thank you’. Thank you for getting me to this point in my life. Thank you for everything you’ve done, thank you for being you.

Tell yourself you’re worth it, because you are.
