Focallure Loose Pigment FA-37 – 12 Rose Gold Review + Demo

Focallure Loose Pigment FA-37 – 12 Rose Gold Review + Demo

Hey, pretty people!

This is my first time playing around with a loose pigment formula, and I have to admit I was a bit nervous at first.

I decided to go with Focallure’s one not only because of the appealing price point, but also because the quality of their products always manages to get better and better. Fun fact: the second blush I have ever purchased was from Focallure!

I decided to go for a rose gold shade because I thought I would be able to make the most out of it, especially if it turned out to be an underwhelming product.

So, want to know how this loose pigment performed?

Let’s get started!

PACKAGING

As simplistic as it looks, I would have to say that I quite like it. It may not look like a high end product, but it sure does not take the attention away from the actual formulation and color.

The black semi-matte cardboard makes the white writings pop perfectly, making them easy to read. You get to see all the ingredients and general specifics right away, and it looks a bit better than a simple sticker. Another nice touch is the light grey ‘eyes’ writing to the side.

The sticker on top makes it easy to identify the shade if you happen to keep the cardboard, but there also is a helpful circular cut-out that allows you to see the product inside.

The actual clear plastic bottle feels a lot more luxurious than what it looks, this much is fair to say. It’s a pretty regular bottle, but has a few details that make me like this simple aesthetics so much.

For starters, the black cap and writings pop nicely against the rose gold shade, but I feel like a white color would have suited the product as well.  Overall the bottle looks polished and elegant, even if some words are mispelled!

Another point in its favour is the weight of the product. I honestly did not expect the bottle to be this heavy, and it was a pleasant surprise.

FORMULATION & PERFORMANCE

Twisting the cap up, we finally get to see the product inside.

The first thing I noticed was how big the grain of the loose pigment were. For some reason, I expected a fine formula that was going to glide on my lid and create a perfectly smooth finish. It goes without saying, this fact made me quite nervous!

Dipping the brush into the pigment, I could see right away that the formula appeared to be extremely soft. The brush basically sinked into the product like it was a hot knife in butter. I have to admit it was quite satisfying to watch!

Your brush will easily pick up enough product to deposit on your lid right away, and the awesome pigmentation will help a fair amount with that.

Since it’s a loose pigment, one thing you need to expect is fallout. The product glides on the lid creating a perfectly smooth finish; it does not add any texture, but you may notice particles falling on your cheeks. The best thing would be to either complete your eyeshadow before the rest of your makeup, or place a generous amount of translucent powder on your under-eye area.

Wetting your brush will create the perfect foiled effect, and a smaller amount of product will guarantee you a nice topper for your favorite eyeshadow.

SWATCHES

DEMO #1

I started off the look by priming my lid and set it with some translucent powder. Then, I buffed a warm hot pink blush into my crease and a little above (‘Wow‘ by Makeup Revolution); once I blended it out, I packed the matte black shade from the ‘Velvet Rose‘ palette by Makeup Revolution (review here) all over the lid, and blended it out into the crease. As soon as I was satisfied with the intensity, I cut the crease with the ‘Cut Crease Canvas’ by Makeup Revolution and set it with the loose pigment. I finished off the look by swiping the matte black on my lower lash line, used a bright yellow highlighter for my inner corner and popped on a basic wing liner.

DEMO #2

On a primed and set lid, I placed a matte brown with a red undertone (also from Velvet Rose) and buffed it out and into the crease. I cut the crease again from inner lid to the center, and set it with the Rose Gold pigment; I then swiped the same matte brown shade on my lower lash line. Lastly, I popped a winged eyeliner on and added a champagne shimmer as my inner corner highlighter.

FINAL THOUGHTS

So, here we are. In light of everything we have seen and talked about, would I recommend Focallure Loose Pigments? Without question!

I personally believe the quality to be top notch, even if the price and overall packaging may not suggest so. You also get a great amount of product, and for this price is more than worth it.

The first detail that I deeply appreciated was how pigmented this formula is. When firstly swatched the formula almost looks like a straight-up duo-chrome shade, with warm gold particles making their way and almost overpowering the pink base.

Another feature I loved was how smooth and sparly the finish of it was. The thicker particles of the pigment made me think it would create at least a minimal amount of texture, but thankfully it didn’t happen. In fact, the finish is perfectly smooth and the pigmentation stays strong-

One thing I will say is that this product is definitely long-lasting; not only its pigmentation remained strong throughout a whole day, but managed to last through a nap as well!

The packaging is the biggest flaw, in my opinion. Some words are mispelled and it may not look like a high end product, but all in all – who cares?

The product performs wonderfully, and for this price point I can’t – and won’t – complain!
