The ‘Soft Glam’ palette is the latest eyeshadow collection by Anastasia Beverly Hills, a leading brand in the makeup industry.
Complete of 14 shades and retailing for 42$ (the usual price for ABH’s palettes), this selection is perfect if you love softer shades or are just starting out with eyeshadows – but want to make an investment. I know that 42$ sure is a lot, especially if you’re still scarred by the ‘Subculture’ experience, but I may have a dupe for you!
Makeup Revolution (Revolution Beauty) is definitely no stranger to this blog, especially when it comes to high quality dupes of high-end products. But, does their ‘Re-Loaded Velvet Rose’ palette meet our expetations?

Two sides of the same mirror, huh?
For one thing, Soft Glam’s packaging follows the felt theme chosen by ABH for their previous palettes, and it works really well, might I say.
The orange shade of the front gives out major summer/late spring vibes, even though the color selection pretty much applies for every season; the name of the palette is in white, while the company’s name is in gold, per usual. On the inside, we also find a mirror and a double-sided brush. Now, I prefer to do my makeup in big mirrors, so this one is not exactly a favorite of mine as you may guess. Also, I am not the biggest fan of the brush.
On one hand, I have to say I am in love with how luxe ABH palettes’ packagings feel and look, but upon taking my ‘Modern Renaissance’ out and about I have to say that they do get dirty quite easily.
Velvet Rose’s packaging, on the other hand, looks (and feels drugstore). It’s not something that really bothers me, but I know it might rub people the wrong way.
Firstly, the palette is hard plastic with a clear front that allows you to see the shadows on the inside, with the brand’s name in gold letters on it; also, you can find the various specifics of the product on the back, much like in Soft Glam’s case.
There is no brush or mirror, which is both a blessing and a curse. While I much prefer to use my own brushes to do my makeup, I don’t dislike using a palette’s mirror if it’s big enough.

In conclusion, do I believe the ‘Re-Loaded Velvet Rose’ to be a dupe for ABH’s ‘Soft Glam’? I definitely do!
As always, though, I encourage you to spend your money on whichever product you would like to try or brand you’d rather support. In fact I am, by no means, here to tell you what you should buy or try out!
Before I leave you with some more dupes to check out, I would like to spend a few words on the Velvet Rose palette. I am a huge Revolution fan and have tons of their product, but I have to be honest: this product isn’t one of my favorites.
The mattes are the best formula ever, don’t get me wrong, but the shimmers (and metallics) leave a lot to be desired. in fact, I encountered the most troubles with the correspondant shades to ‘Fairy’, ‘Glistening’ and ‘Bronze’; the first two were poorly pigmented and hard to build up, while the latter was crumbly and causing a lot of fallout on my face, as well as a lot of kickback in the pan.
That being said, I once again repeat to you: invest in what you believe!
